RECIPE FOR DALWADI IN RED GRAVY
Dal wadi is a protein rich main dish,low cal, very filling and tasty.
It is generally served in lunch or dinner with steamed rice and some side dish.
Time taken to prepare: 25 minutes
Preparation Time plus Cooking Time:25 mins
- 200 gms dal wadi
- 2 large red onions
- 2 large tomatoes
- 6 to 8 garlic cloves
- Small piece ginger
- 1 green chilli
- Salt as per taste
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 2 tsp oil
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp char magaz.
- 1 tsp kasturi methi.
- 1/2 tsp panchphoran( cumin, mustard,onion seeds, fenugreek seeds and saunf)
- 1 large potato.
1.Wash and dry roast garlic, onion,chili, ginger,char magaz, tomatoes.Grind it in a mixer.
2.Heat a cooker. Add 2tsp oil. Add panch phoran and add wadis broken into small peices.
3.Fry for 5 minutes. Add the ground masala. Fry for 2 minutes more, add chopped potato, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and kasturi methi.
4.Add 1 cup water and place the cooker lid and cook till 4 cooker whistles.
5.Remove from gas and sprinkle coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice and some other side dish.
